Reading (or listening to) your Bible and prayer are a crucial part of a growing spiritual life with God. By engaging with God’s Word we deepen our relationship with Him.  Bible Society's vision is to encourage and help people engage with God's Word regularly so that lives are transformed.

We’re constantly developing resources, for individuals and churches, to help people understand the importance of reading the Bible and how to go about it. One of the main reasons people struggle to read their Bibles is because they find it difficult to understand. We aim to help people get back into reading God’s Word by providing resources that help them get a better understanding of the Bible story and what it means.

New Zealand engagement projects

E100 and Essential Jesus Bible Reading Campaigns

The E100 and Essential Jesus Bible Reading Challenges are designed to help people better understand the Bible and build a regular habit of Bible reading.  E100 is 100 carefully selected readings taking participants through the overall Bible story.  Essential Jesus comprises 100 readings through the Bible focusing on Jesus, the most significant person in history.

Both campaigns are flexible and feature creative resources including the innovative Essential Jesus DVD discussion guide and the full 20 week Essential Jesus children’s church programme, both developed here in New Zealand.  For more information and to order resources, visit the E100 website. Drink it, Think it, Live it, Give it

This is a short film, created for Bible Sunday, using the theme ‘Drink it, Think it, Live it, Give it’ to encourage people to not only read their Bibles, but let it sink into their minds and hearts so it transforms them and changes the way they live. The film is accompanied by discussion questions suitable for youth and small groups. Read more.

Tārore and Her Book for NZ school children

Acclaimed children’s author Joy Cowley teamed up with Bible Society to write the Tārore Story which was then distributed free to 240,000 school children across New Zealand. Through this project we hope that children will not only learn about the beginnings of Christianity in this country, but also learn about God and the power of his peace and forgiveness. Read more.
