Bible Society gets set to fly at Parachute

We're excited to announce that we'll again be supporting Parachute music as an official sponsor at this years' festival. This year we’re taking a plane to help us promote our mission!

Parachute is one of the largest Christian music festivals in the Southern Hemisphere with a mission to connect people to Jesus through music. With 25,000 expected to attend, our presence at Parachute gives us a unique opportunity to encourage the younger generation to get excited about Bible mission.

We’ll be there raising awareness of Bible Society work and the need to get Bibles to those who don’t have access to them. We’ll be focusing particularly on Bible mission in the Australian Outback and giving people a chance to go on a mission adventure to help distribute Bibles to some of Australia’s most remote communities.

We'll send two people on a life-changing mission to join Bible Society Australia's Flying Bibleman. We're looking for people with a real heart for mission, people passionate about making a difference in the lives of others. This is a chance for them to be part of something bigger and to see the direct effects of giving Bibles to those who don't have them.

To help us promote this competition we're taking a small plane to Parachute! The plane, built for us in Wellington, is a replica of the plane flown by the Flying Bible Man. With the help of a little technology it'll take festival goers on a short "flight" to Australia's Outback and give them a taste of what it'll be like if they're chosen to go on the mission adventure. We hope it'll attract people to come and see us and sign up.

Take the 'Change Lives Today' challenge

We're also encouraging people to take the 'Change Lives Today' challenge to help us find the right person to send on the mission adventure. We're posting regular mini Bible devotions on our Change Lives Today facebook page. They're aimed at encouraging people to put their passion for the Bible into action and share their experiences with others. It's hoped the page will spur young Christians all over the country to not only change lives around them but also to share how they're doing it to encourage others.

The Lounge

We'll also be the key sponsor of The Lounge, a safe place at Festival for people to seek guidance or talk about their spiritual journey with trained facilitators who offer counseling, support, prayer and advice. Approximately 2,000 people make a commitment to follow Christ at Festival each year. Many of these new followers will visit the Lounge to talk about their journey of faith and any other issues they may have. We will offer visitors to the Lounge a free New Testament along with other resources to help them read and engage with God through it.
