The only thing that was wrong with the recent Balclutha Bible Quiz was the weather!
No one could have forecast (not even Jim!) the flooding that closed the road between Dunedin and Balclutha.
One Dunedin team keen to join in were not able to get down with floodwaters closing State Highway 1. The Regional Rep was the last car let through, which was just as well as he was bringing the quiz questions.
This year nine teams competed for the trophy (a great turnout) and with competition being very keen indeed, victory went to a team from Owaka Presbyterian Church - a mixed team of adults and young people who certainly knew their Bibles well and even knew the Biblical record held by Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz (Isaiah 8:2).
Well done indeed.
There was much spirited competition, a great sales table and a generous amount raised for literacy projects for Bible Society. The best thing was that people had fun and we look forward to next year's event when we hope that the weather will be kinder and the people just as keen.

"I've been a believer since 1996, but I could never read the Bible because of my poor eyesight. Having this large print New Testament means so much to me. I pray that I will be able to continue reading it every day for the rest of my life."
