The “God Pod” within the Arctic Circle

Nicknamed the “God Pod”, MegaVoice is a small, hand held audio Scripture encoded on a microchip. Bible Society is using the solar-powered MegaVoice unit to bring God’s Word to the Nenets people or the “Shepherds” who live within Siberia’s Arctic Circle.

Another nickname for MegaVoice is “Ambassador”, which perhaps sums up its ability to bring Scriptures to communities in remote places, which don’t have electricity.

For millennia, the Nenets have followed the reindeer on their migratory paths, but in the mid 20th century the communists forced them onto collective farms. The heart went out of their communities and their language declined.

Today, the spiritual darkness still hovers manifesting itself in terms of alcoholism, suicide and traditional spirituality.

Like most of Siberia’s indigenous people, the Nenets speak Russian, but Bible Society is bringing them the Word of God in their heart language. Already the Gospel of Luke has been published and audio Bible stories distributed.

By various formats Bible Society is working to bring His Light into the cold darkness of the long Arctic winter.

It’s possible to take God’s Word anywhere, even within the Arctic Circle, with MegaVoice audio Scriptures.
