Bible Society recently sent two “Mission Adventurers”, Bridgette Moffat from Hamilton and Heather Penman from Auckland, on a life-changing mission to deliver Bibles to people living on remote Fijian islands.
They joined the DaySpring Ministries team, who partner with Bible Society, on board the yacht Seahawk.
During the 12 day trip, Bridgette and Heather visited 11 different villages on the islands of Ovalau and Gau delivering Bibles, participating in church services and experiencing village life.
“It was an incredible experience,” says Heather. “To be able to see the appreciation on people’s faces, as they received a Bible in their heart language was amazing.
“I think that Bible Society New Zealand supporters are doing a fantastic job supporting this work, especially now that I have seen firsthand the difference their gifts are making in so many lives! It’s phenomenal!”
As well as many Bibles and children’s Scriptures being distributed, around 300 Fijians gave their lives to Christ at services held in local churches.
The girls returned home tired but very grateful for an adventure that both opened their eyes to the need for Bibles in the South Pacific, and strengthened their own faith in God.
